Spiritual DIrector

What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual direction is a prayerful conversation—a companionship—centered on your ever-deepening relationship with God. It is a space to slow down, listen, and become more aware of how God is present and active in your life.
Spiritual direction welcomes all people as part of the Body of Christ, and is grounded in trust, care, and reverence for each person’s story.

The Role of a Spiritual Director
A spiritual director is someone trained to accompany you as you deepen your relationship with God. Rather than offering advice or solutions, a director listens with you—helping you notice where the Spirit may be moving, inviting, or speaking in your life.
They do not walk this role alone. Spiritual directors engage in regular supervision and remain accountable to trusted guides, helping ensure that each conversation is held with care, integrity, and humility.
The Benedictine Spirit of
Spiritual Direction
The practice of Spiritual Direction is shaped by the Benedictine tradition, which invites a way of life rooted in attentiveness and transformation:
-
Listening deeply for God’s voice through prayer and reflection (Lectio Divina)
-
Becoming more fully the person God created you to be (Conversatio Morum)
-
Growing in awareness of God’s presence in everyday life
-
Living with a deeper sense of purpose, compassion, and faithfulness

What to Expect
Each session is simple and intentional, creating space for reflection and prayer. A typical session may include:
-
A brief time of silence to settle into God’s presence (Statio)
-
Opening prayer
-
Reflective conversation about your life and spiritual journey
-
Listening together for God’s movement and invitations
-
A commitment to confidentiality, respect, and trust
Spiritual direction is not therapy, counseling, or problem-solving. Rather, it is a sacred conversation that helps you notice and respond to God’s presence in your life.
A Space of Trust
Spiritual direction is held in confidence and shaped by mutual respect. It is a non-judgmental space where you are free to bring your questions, experiences, and desires honestly, trusting in God’s grace at work within you.
